I haven't seen it but am looking forward to it when I get some $. I <3 the Flaming Lips!!! I'm going to New Orleans for the Voodoo Festival Halloween weekend and can't wait. Some of the acts I want to check out are The Flaming Lips, Cake, Nine Inch Nails, Social Distortion, New York Dolls, and Billy Idol (sorry I'm a cheese ball (hopefully he doesn't stick to his crappy new shit and throws out some 80s)). Anyhoo, did you lie the Fearless Freaks DVD? By the way if you like the Flaming Lips, check out Zaireeka, it's a 4 disc CD that you can play each CD individually, but if you play all 4 together it's an album, they are truly talented and amazing!

I haven't seen the film, nor have I bought records from either band in years, but I was part of the Texas scene in 80-83 (knew King before he joined BS) and then part of the Oklahoma scene in 83-86 (FL opened for my band back when Wayne's brother was still the singer) and it never crossed my mind to compare the two bands. I just don't see it. Wayne always reminded me of a young Neil Diamond more than anything else.
